These three images were commissioned by a car modification company around 12 months ago. They were engineering a hybrid Subaru Impreza called the “Type-25” which to cut a long story short was a pretty scary car.
What they needed were some marketing images, I suggested that we show the car in different settings and from different angles to show off its dynamic intentions. Rather than fly the car out to different locations around the world, I painted Hyper-real backdrops and gave the car motion from two studio photographs and an action track day shot.
The images were created to fairly limited timescales, taking about 5-6 hours each, which kind of suited the rough, limited brush stroke feel to the backgrounds – the images were all 5k wide (for print purposes).
“TOYKO” - shows the car running down a Japanese high street
“YOKOHAMA” – illustrates the car stretching its legs on the Tokyo to Yokohama highway.
“NEVADA” – Shows the car in a different environment – throwing up dust and dirt at good old sunset.
